Facebook: 1,000 new millionaires?

Facebook: 1,000 new millionaires? The catchy rumor ahead of Facebook’s initial public offering filing was that the company’s record IPO will create 1,000 millionaires overnight. With a current plan to raise $ 5 billion in its stock sale — the largest Internet IPO in history — employees who were granted stock options in Facebook when they were hired certainly have a lot to gain. The Daily Mail reported that the company will have “well over a thousand” employees who will be millionaires after the company goes public, based on comments from an anonymous former in-house Facebook recruiter. It is clear that Facebook’s IPO will add substantially to the wealth of its board members and top executives, who are already millionaires or, in the case of chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, billionaires. But the answer is, really, that’s it’s impossible to know how many of the company’s 3,000-plus employees will see their [...]

73 killed, 1000 injured in Egypt’s ‘worst’ soccer riot CAIRO: At least 73 people were killed and 1,000 injured in a riot at a soccer match in the Egyptian city of Port Said, the worst disaster in the country’s soccer history, health officials said. “This is unfortunate and deeply saddening. It is the biggest disaster in Egypt’s soccer history,” deputy health minister Hesham Sheiha told state television. The game was between Al Ahli, one of Egypt’s most successful clubs, and al-Masry, a team based in Port Said. I’ve slept with 1,000 men so far – I don’t care if people judge me!

I’ve slept with 1,000 men so far – I don’t care if people judge me! Sex addict Crystal Waren After spotting a gorgeous young man on her way to the shops, Crystal Warren couldn’t wait to speak to him on her way home. She’d spent her whole grocery trip daydreaming about where they could sneak off for some illicit sex. Advertisement >> Two hours later, after flirting outrageously with the total stranger and talking her way into his bed, she was back at home, delighted at how her afternoon had panned out. But this sexual encounter wasn’t a one-off moment of passion she planned to gossip about later with friends. In fact, it was pretty unremarkable for Crystal, a sex addict, like the character played by Michael Fassbender in the new movie, Shame. “People don’t usually associate sex addiction with women,” says retail manager Crystal, 42. “We’re normally the ones [...]

How a tiny hamlet of 1000 embraced new ideas for the sake of the future

How a tiny hamlet of 1000 embraced new ideas for the sake of the future Jhargaon (Gumla), Jan. 23: Jhargaon holds out hope that success is possible, even in Jharkhand. Two years after it was chosen as a model, over 1,000 residents of this nondescript hamlet of Gumla, 110km from the state capital, want to junk their BPL cards. For, self respect does not allow them to be claimants of government dole. If self-sufficiency is their goal, the people of Jhargaon, in Toto panchayat of Gumla Sadar block, 10km from the district headquarters, have imbibed its true spirit. Over the last two years, they have achieved a lot. They have set up a mango orchard in collaboration with the district administration on 47 acres of fallow land, pooled in resources for group farming, banned the sale of liquor, ensured their children go to school and even set up an informal [...]

Exxon: Yellowstone spill 1,500 barrels, not 1,000

Exxon: Yellowstone spill 1,500 barrels, not 1,000 Published January 19, 2012 | Associated Press Print Email Share Recommend BILLINGS, Mont. –  Exxon Mobil says 1,509 barrels of oil spilled into the Yellowstone River during a pipeline break in Montana last summer — an increase of more than 500 barrels over the company’s earlier estimates. Spokesman Alan Jeffers said Thursday the company recalculated the volume after discovering the pipeline was completely severed during the July 1 accident near Laurel. Jeffers says pipeline breaches typically involve a crack or fissure. That was the assumption used to craft the initial estimate. The company has estimated costs related to the spill of $ 135 million. More than 1,000 Exxon Mobil contractors were involved in the cleanup effort. Only about 10 barrels of crude were recovered — less than 1 percent of the total spilled.
